PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES, RESOURCES, AND SERVICES
SELS provides a wide variety of professional development opportunities for ALL member libraries (Public Libraries, School Libraries, Academic and Special Libraries), and staff at member libraries can apply for reimbursement for PD events.Â
Library Learning Lab: through Niche Academy all libraries have access to the online "lab," which hosts a wide variety of library training resources.
PD Reimbursement: cover eligible expenses for SELS member library staff to attend conferences or other PD opportunities.
Professional Collection: SELCO/SELS maintains print and digital book collections dedicated to the library profession. Access the professional catalog collection and place a hold through the Professional Collection page. If you do not have one already, you can sign up for a SELCO library card through your local public library.
What's Up: a weekly newsletter is a great resource to learn about current and upcoming library related learning opportunities. To subscribe, please email learningengagement@selco.info.
Workshops: SELS regularly hosts free workshops, seminars and webinars on relevant topics such as collection maintenance, community outreach, and DEI in libraries. All online workshops are recorded and can be viewed on youtube.
