The Professional Learning Community (PLC) was established in 2018 via a grassroots effort by media specialists in the region. While many schools may have a PLC in their building, school library staff are not always the best fit for these models, often getting shunted into other work groups. This regional PLC is specifically for school library staff in the 11 counties in southeast Minnesota. The intent of the group is provide for school library staff a regular meeting in which those attending can examine topics such as instructional practices, student benchmarks, outcomes, sharing what works in the classroom and media center, etc.
After a hiatus during the 2024-25 school year, SELS is reinvisioning the PLC to be a more impactful networking and learning opportunity for K-12 school library staff. Meetings will be hosted at SELCO from 12 -5 PM with a lunch paid for by SELS from 12-1 PM. From 1-5 PM, school library staff will participate in relevant professional development and have time to engage with those who serve similar roles within the school environment.
Meetings for 2025-26 school year:
November 4
March 3
May 6
